In recent developments, White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby indicated that the government still does not have complete explanations for numerous drone sightings in the skies, a situation that has left many citizens feeling frustrated.
Kirby acknowledged that many of the confirmed sightings have turned out to be piloted aircraft. However, he noted that there are still sightings that remain unexplained. He encouraged individuals who observe these drones to report their findings to the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI for further investigation.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has reached out to President Biden, requesting additional federal resources to deal with these drone incidents. He pointed out that current federal laws restrict state and local law enforcement from effectively addressing drone activities. Murphy emphasized the need for more information to uncover the reasons behind these occurrences, which have sparked various conspiracy theories on social media.
Kirby also suggested that some of the drones could potentially be commercially developed devices, sparking further inquiry into their origins. He expressed the government’s commitment to uncovering the truth, stating, “We want to answer those questions just as much as those folks in New Jersey want answers.”
To bolster their efforts, the government plans to deploy new technology and personnel to better assess the situation surrounding the drone sightings. Meanwhile, Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden has called for officials to consider declaring a state of emergency due to the prevalence of these drones, providing a heat map to illustrate the intensity of the activity.
Local officials, including Rep. Chris Smith, have shared concerns, particularly regarding drone activity around sensitive military installations. Smith recounted a situation where a Coast Guard vessel was reportedly shadowed by numerous drones.
Middletown Mayor Tony Perry also voiced his worries about the drone sightings near Naval Weapons Station Earle, underscoring the growing concern among citizens.
Kirby addressed the seriousness of the public’s reports, affirming that the government is taking these sightings seriously and encourages anyone with additional evidence to come forward. He emphasized that there is no dismissal of citizen observations, stating, “We would never, ever stoop to think that an American citizen was crazy or nuts because of what they’re seeing.”
As the investigation continues, it’s clear that both local authorities and the federal government are eager to get to the bottom of this mystery.
