Former Congressman Joe Walsh expressed strong criticism of CNN after it was reported that Jim Acosta was taken off his morning show. In a post on social media, Walsh, who frequently appears on CNN, didn’t hold back his disappointment. He stated that removing Acosta from his slot was an act of cowardice.
Acosta has been known for his outspoken views, particularly against former President Trump, and his absence in the new CNN schedule raised eyebrows. Walsh remarked that Acosta is one of CNN’s most independent and brave hosts, suggesting that the decision to demote him was a move to placate the Biden administration. He urged CNN to reconsider this choice, emphasizing the network’s responsibility to hold public officials accountable.
The reshuffling of CNN’s morning lineup replaced Acosta’s show with “The Situation Room” hosted by Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown. A spokesperson for CNN mentioned that discussions with Acosta about a new timeslot were ongoing, and they would share more information soon.
This change comes at a time when CNN is grappling with challenges in the news industry, including recent layoffs. Mark Thompson, the CNN CEO, noted the company’s goal is to adapt to shifting audience preferences and secure CNN’s place in the future of news.
