Controversy Surrounds ‘Liver King’ After Violent Rants Against Joe Rogan
In a stunning turn of events, fitness influencer Brian Johnson, widely known as the "Liver King," found himself in hot water after making threats against podcaster Joe Rogan. Rogan informed the police that he believed Johnson to be "significantly unstable," leading to the influencer’s arrest in Austin.
The situation began to unfold when the Austin Police Department received several reports about Johnson’s erratic behavior on social media. At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, detectives became aware of a series of rants posted by Johnson, where he openly challenged Rogan, known for his success and influence in the podcasting world. Johnson’s outbursts were alarming enough for law enforcement to take action.
Johnson, who had traveled to Austin—Rogan’s home since he moved from California in 2020—continued his tirade against the podcaster, sparking significant concern among fans and followers alike. Law enforcement decided to contact Rogan for clarification about the situation. During their conversation, Rogan made it clear that he had never interacted with Johnson in any way and regarded his posts as threatening. Rogan noted that he had heard from others that Johnson might be dealing with substance abuse issues.
The former "Fear Factor" host further expressed concern about Johnson’s mental health, stating that he seemed to be in a troubled state and in need of help. These remarks prompted the Austin police to intensify their investigation. Later that same day, officers located Johnson at the Four Seasons Hotel and arrested him around 6 p.m.
Johnson’s reputation took a hit last year when he admitted that his muscular appearance was largely the result of a costly steroid regimen. After confirming his struggles with performance-enhancing drugs, he was charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class B misdemeanor.
Following his arrest, Johnson appeared in a mugshot that conveyed his disheveled state, looking haggard with dark circles under his eyes. He was subsequently released on a $20,000 bond. As part of his release conditions, Johnson was ordered to avoid any contact with Rogan or his family, participate in a mental health evaluation, and refrain from possessing firearms.
Interestingly, although Johnson and Rogan have never officially interacted on "The Joe Rogan Experience," the former has come up in various discussions, primarily centered around bodybuilding topics.
The influencer’s bizarre confrontational videos began on a Monday, where he issued a challenge to Rogan for an “honorable” fistfight. Dressed in a fur headdress while brandishing what appeared to be firearms, Johnson declared, “Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out. Man to man, I’m picking a fight with you.” He seemed unfazed by the odds, admitting he had no training in jiu-jitsu compared to Rogan’s black belt status.
In further messages, Johnson reiterated his desire to fight for his family, showcasing a level of commitment that raised eyebrows. “This is a dream come true,” he said, hinting at his willingness to confront Rogan directly.
As the drama unfolded, Johnson continued to post confrontational videos an hour before being apprehended by police. Even after his release, he addressed the situation in a bizarre fashion, vaguely referencing Rogan while dismissively dubbing him “some guy.” Johnson later mentioned Rogan’s comedy club by name, reflecting a strange mix of obsession and detachment.
Despite this media whirlwind, Rogan has not made any public statements regarding the events or Johnson’s repeated calls for a match. As the situation continues to develop, many are left to wonder about the motivations behind Johnson’s troubling behavior and what it means for influencer culture today.
In an era where social media can amplify voices—both rational and irrational—this incident marks a stark reminder of the challenges that come with fame and the responsibilities that should accompany it.
