Jerry Ferrara Shares the Story Behind His ‘Entourage’ Character’s Name
Jerry Ferrara recently opened up about the inspiration for his beloved character, Turtle, from the hit TV show Entourage. In an emotional Instagram post, Ferrara revealed that Turtle’s real name, Salvatore Assante, was after a close childhood friend who passed away at a young age.
Ferrara wrote, “Ever wonder why in Entourage Turtle’s real name was Salvatore Assante??? That was the name of one of my great friends growing up in Brooklyn,” sharing memories of their time together. He noted that his friend was never shy and always brought life to the party, contrasting his own more reserved personality.
He added, “Sal was the best. He for sure influenced the way I played Turtle. I think about him all the time, and I hope he’s up in heaven laughing that somehow I got HBO to name a character after him.”
The show, which aired from 2004 to 2011, followed a group of friends from Queens as they pursued their dreams in Hollywood. It resonated with many for its relatable themes of friendship and ambition.
Ferrara’s post touched the hearts of fans and fellow actors alike. Emmanuelle Chriqui, who featured in the series, called it a great way to honor his friend. Comments poured in praising the heartfelt gesture, with fans recognizing the positive impact Assante had on Ferrara’s life.
In an exciting turn, Ferrara hinted at a possible reboot of Entourage, expressing enthusiasm for revisiting the show with an updated perspective, highlighting how nostalgia plays a vital role in its enduring appeal.
With the conversations buzzing about a revival, it seems the charm of Entourage may find its way back to screens, delighting long-time fans and newcomers alike.
