The World Series is currently tied, with each team having won two games.
After an incredibly long game on Monday that went 18 innings, the Toronto Blue Jays were able to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers with a score of 6-2 on Tuesday night. Both teams were likely feeling tired after the nearly seven-hour game the night before. However, the Blue Jays’ hitters, especially Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette, managed to perform well.
Enrique Hernández hit a sacrifice fly, allowing a runner to score and giving the Dodgers an early lead. However, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. responded with a home run that scored two runs, putting Toronto in the lead. They would hold onto this lead for the rest of the game.
The Blue Jays’ victory came shortly after country singer Brad Paisley, who called himself “Mr. More Baseball,” sang the national anthem before the marathon Game 3. The Dodgers won that game 6-5, with Freddie Freeman hitting a home run to end the game almost seven hours after Paisley’s performance.
Shohei Ohtani, a key player for the Dodgers in the playoffs, started Game 4 for Los Angeles. He pitched for six innings, allowing four runs and striking out six batters.
Just the night before, Ohtani had made history by becoming the first player since 1906 to hit four extra-base hits in a World Series game. He also reached base nine times, which tied a World Series record.
In the seventh inning, Bo Bichette hit a single that allowed two runners to score, increasing the Blue Jays’ lead. Shane Bieber was the winning pitcher for Toronto, pitching for 5 ⅓ innings and only allowing one run. Ohtani was charged with the loss.
After Ohtani left the game, the Dodgers used only three relief pitchers. The Blue Jays, on the other hand, needed four pitchers to finish the nine-inning game.
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. After this game, the series will move back to Toronto for Game 6.
The series has showcased impressive performances from key players on both sides. Guerrero Jr.’s power hitting and Bichette’s clutch RBIs have been crucial for the Blue Jays, while Ohtani’s exceptional performance in Game 3 highlighted his all-around talent for the Dodgers. The pitching strategies employed by both teams demonstrate the importance of bullpen management in a high-stakes series. With the series tied, the remaining games promise to be exciting as both teams battle for the championship.
