Jax Taylor, known for his role on “The Valley,” has opened up about his past struggles with addiction. In March, he admitted to being addicted to cocaine and alcohol, but he is now celebrating 139 days of sobriety. During a recent podcast episode titled “In The Mind of a Man,” he had a candid conversation with his former “Vanderpump Rules” co-star Tom Schwartz. Taylor shared that he felt he needed cocaine to socialize, explaining that it started as a way to enjoy himself but eventually became a necessity just to stay awake.
Schwartz playfully noted that Taylor seemed to have a knack for finding cocaine no matter where they were. Taylor agreed, recalling how he could “find it within minutes.” Looking back, Taylor recognized that his drug and alcohol use had a negative impact on him and those around him, admitting that he often relied on substances to feel comfortable in social situations.
The upcoming season of “The Valley” will showcase Taylor’s journey towards recovery, which he admits will be difficult to revisit. He reflected on his growth, stating he has worked hard to become a better person. He noted significant changes in his life since the show was filmed, including new relationships.
In addition to focusing on his sobriety, Taylor has been attending therapy and feels confident in his decision to stay away from drugs and alcohol. He mentioned that he no longer feels tempted while socializing, even if he still goes out occasionally. Although he refers to himself as “California sober,” which often allows for the use of cannabis, he emphasized his commitment to sobriety and healthy choices.
As he continues on this path, Jax Taylor hopes to encourage others who may be facing similar struggles and share his story as a testament to growth and redemption. “The Valley” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo, and fans can expect to see his journey unfold on the show.
