Jason Corbett’s Children Share Their Story in a New Documentary
Jason Corbett’s children, Jack and Sarah, have faced unimaginable losses in their young lives. By the time they were just 10 and 8, they had already lost both of their parents. Their mother, Margaret, passed away unexpectedly from an asthma attack in 2006 when Jack was only 2 years old and Sarah was a newborn. Tragically, the family suffered another blow in 2015 when Jason was killed in his own home while his children slept nearby.
The shocking details of Jason’s death revealed that his second wife, Molly, and her father, Tom Martens, were involved. They claimed self-defense during the incident, alleging that Jason had been abusive. However, Jason’s family and his children assert that Molly intentionally killed him with her father’s help.
In 2016, both Molly and Tom were charged with second-degree murder. Initially convicted and sentenced to 20 to 25 years in prison, their convictions were overturned in 2020. They later accepted plea deals and were released from prison in June 2024.
Now, a Netflix documentary titled A Deadly American Marriage focuses on this complex case, featuring interviews with Jack, Sarah, Molly, and Tom. The documentary aims to shed light on the unanswered questions surrounding Jason’s tragic death.
Growing Up Amidst Tragedy
Following their father’s death, Jack and Sarah were left under the guardianship of their aunt and uncle in Ireland. Since then, they have been healing from their traumatic childhood experiences. Although both siblings remember their father fondly, their methods of honoring his memory differ.
Sarah is vocal about her experiences and regularly shares posts on social media, celebrating her parents’ birthdays and anniversaries. She’s also written two books to help others deal with grief. Jack, on the other hand, is more private and focuses on his music studies.
Recently, they both contributed to the Netflix documentary, seeing it as a chance to spotlight the shortcomings of the justice system and give a voice to their father.
“As we share his story, we continue to keep his memory alive,” they expressed.
Their journey, filled with heartache and resilience, continues as they strive for justice and healing in their lives.
