Janelle Brown recently shared her reflections on her past marriage to Kody Brown during an episode of “Sister Wives.” As she joined her daughter Maddie Brush in Utah to assist Christine Brown in selecting a wedding dress for her upcoming marriage to David Woolley, Janelle couldn’t help but think back to her own wedding day.
In a candid moment, Janelle revealed to the cameras that she didn’t have a traditional wedding dress. At the time of her marriage to Kody in 1993, her family was upset by her decision to join the faith practiced by Kody, leading to many relatives not attending the ceremony. “I had a green dress I wore. That was it,” she commented.
Interestingly, Janelle recounted that her mother did attend the wedding — not only to support Janelle but also after marrying Kody’s father just three months before Janelle’s own nuptials. Meanwhile, Janelle’s other family members chose to stay away.
Throughout their spiritual marriage, which lasted until 2022, Janelle reflected on what a future marriage might look like for her. She hinted that if she were to marry again, she wouldn’t opt for the traditional white gown. “I’m probably just going to get married on a mountain in my jeans somewhere,” she quipped.
The episode also featured Meri Brown, who was reflecting on her complicated relationship with Kody. During a lunch with friends, Meri received encouragement to cherish her memories with Kody while also looking forward. “I’d love to see you get to the point where it’s like, ‘You know what? I loved my time with Kody and I love where I am now,'” suggested a friend, prompting Meri to agree that it was important to recognize the good times they shared.
Meri expressed a positive outlook on her future, saying, “I feel so much like I’m moving forward. Eventually, I’m going to find a guy and then who knows what after that, who knows what will happen.”
“Sister Wives” continues to air Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC, offering fans a glimpse into the evolving dynamics within this unique family structure.
