Israeli President Isaac Herzog addressed concerns regarding the involvement of the United States in the ongoing conflict with Iran. He emphasized that Israel is not trying to pull the U.S. into a war, following recent military actions taken by Washington against key Iranian nuclear facilities.
During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Herzog responded to President Donald Trump’s decision to strike Iranian sites. Herzog stated, “We are not dragging America into a war. The decision rests with the President of the United States and his team, considering America’s national security interests.”
The Israeli leader recognized the military actions as justified, considering the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear developments. He called these actions a necessary step to ensure the safety of the U.S. and its allies. “The Iranian nuclear program poses a clear danger to the free world, especially to America,” Herzog remarked, urging strong measures to counter it.
Herzog also pointed out that, despite the military strikes, the possibility of diplomatic talks should not be overlooked. However, he insisted that any negotiations with Iran need to be straightforward and based on trust, citing a history of failed agreements due to Iranian dishonesty.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed Herzog’s sentiments on a separate FOX News appearance, clarifying that the U.S. is “not at war” with Iran and stressing that regime change is not the primary objective. The focus remains on finding a diplomatic solution.
