New York Liberty basketball star Sabrina Ionescu and her husband, former NFL player Hroniss Grasu, had their home in the Los Angeles area broken into.
Police say two people broke into the home on Monday evening. The couple wasn’t there at the time. The alarm went off when the burglars broke a glass door to get inside.
The police reported that the suspects took some items and ran away. News outlets say the thieves, who were wearing masks, stole handbags worth about $60,000.
The police are looking at security camera footage. So far, no one has been arrested.
Ionescu and Grasu got married in March of this year. Ionescu said her wedding was a highlight of her year.
Grasu played in the NFL for seven seasons. Ionescu is a star player for the New York Liberty in the WNBA.
This break-in is one of several recent robberies targeting athletes. Other athletes who have had their homes burglarized include Jaylen Brown’s mom, WWE stars Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins, and NFL players Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.
