U.S. Secret Service Director Sean Curran is on a mission to strengthen the agency and is looking for the most qualified individuals to join the team. Appointed during the Trump administration, Curran is determined to maintain high standards in recruitment and operations.
In an exclusive interview with Lara Trump, Curran explained that being a Secret Service agent requires substantial commitment, as agents often live according to someone else’s schedule. He emphasized that finding individuals who can handle this demanding lifestyle is no easy task.
Despite the challenges, Curran believes he can find exceptional talent. “This job is surrounded by great people and great moments. Sometimes, it’s about the right person finding you,” he remarked.
Curran has firsthand experience in high-pressure situations. He recalled a moment last summer in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet narrowly missed him while standing beside former President Trump. He also spoke about a touching event when he presented terminal cancer survivor DJ Daniel with Secret Service credentials during Trump’s joint address to Congress, which went viral.
These experiences underscore the need for comprehensive training for Secret Service agents, who must be prepared to respond instinctively to various situations. Lara Trump witnessed this rigorous training process firsthand at the Raleigh training center, which simulates real-life scenarios, including protective driving and emergency responses.
Curran noted the importance of having a training facility that mirrors the White House precisely so that agents understand every detail vital to their mission.
Recently sworn in as the 28th director of the Secret Service by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Curran expressed his commitment to the agency’s improvement. He wants to ensure that the right people are in place, stating, “Putting the right people in the right places solves a lot of problems.”
Overall, Curran is hopeful and actively seeks the best talent to strengthen the integrity and effectiveness of the Secret Service.
