An inmate from Indiana is currently unaccounted for after he left his work crew, prompting local law enforcement to advise residents to secure their homes.
On Wednesday, March 19, 21-year-old Michael D. Anderson, who was serving time at the Edinburgh Correctional Facility, walked away during a work detail near Vallonia Tree Nursery. His last known location was near the Starve Hollow area.
According to the Indiana Department of Correction, Anderson was serving a three-year sentence after being found guilty of two counts of burglary in Lake County.
He is described as a light-skinned Black male, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 184 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Notably, he has several tattoos, including a rose on his right hand, a royal crown on his right arm, and a Chicago Bulls logo on his left leg. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a yellow shirt and pants, a Carhartt-style jacket, and an orange hat, and may also have been dressed in thermal underwear.
A representative from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that search efforts for Anderson are ongoing after he went missing around 12:45 PM EST. While authorities currently believe there is no immediate danger to the community, they emphasize the importance of keeping doors locked.
Police have urged anyone who spots Anderson to call 911 right away. They have also asked anyone with information that could assist in locating him to reach out to local authorities.
