An executive at the tech company Astronomer has resigned following a viral incident at a Coldplay concert. The company confirmed that Kristin Cabot, who was responsible for human resources, is no longer with them.
Her departure comes shortly after CEO Andy Byron stepped down amid an investigation. The situation gained attention when Cabot and Byron were caught on camera sharing a moment during the concert, which quickly became a sensation on social media, spawning numerous memes and parody videos.
During the concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, lead singer Chris Martin prompted the audience to look at the big screen for his “Jumbotron Song.” When their faces appeared, Cabot looked shocked, covering her face, while Byron quickly ducked out of view.
Martin humorously commented, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” a remark that added to the intrigue surrounding the couple.
Initially, their identities remained unknown, but internet users swiftly uncovered who they were. Astronomer later confirmed their names in statements. Following the incident, both Cabot and Byron’s profiles have been removed from the company’s website, along with an announcement of Cabot’s hiring.
Astronomer, a technology firm based in New York, helps large businesses manage their data. Interestingly, online streaming of Coldplay’s music surged by 20% after the video gained traction, according to industry analysis.
