A woman from Florida is raising alarms for homeowners after a fire devastated her property, a fire she believes was sparked by her overheating Wi-Fi router. Keona Huntley, known on social media as @yeahthatskeeee, shared her traumatic experience in a TikTok video that quickly gained attention.
In her video, Huntley revealed shocking images of the destruction left behind after the fire swept through her home. Starting in the kitchen, she showed darkened walls and debris scattered throughout the space. The scene in her bedroom was even more alarming, with her bed reduced to mere metal springs after the mattress caught fire. The ceiling insulation had collapsed, and burnt wallpaper hung off the walls, while a window had shattered due to the intensity of the blaze.
In a heartfelt moment, Huntley expressed her heartbreak, stating, “We literally lost everything today,” as she moved through the wreckage of her home. She also shared her concern for her children, saying, “It’s like my kids just have nothing to come home to.”
Huntley recounted that there had been ongoing problems with her Wi-Fi router prior to the fire. Technicians from Quantum Fiber had been called multiple times to resolve issues. Just two months before the fire, the router had been replaced but continued to cause headaches with its unreliable service.
While Huntley suspects the faulty router was responsible, fire investigators will need to determine if it indeed malfunctioned or if other factors were at play.
In her follow-up videos, Huntley expressed her sorrow not only for the loss of her home but for the belongings that were important to her family. Unfortunately, she did not have renters insurance to help cover the damages, something she acknowledged with regret, saying, “I have to live with that guilt now that my kids don’t have a home.”
Despite this tragedy, Huntley is determined to overcome this hardship. She has rallied support from family and friends to start clearing out the remnants of her home. “I have three kids, our home is destroyed, it is gone,” she mentioned. “But we are getting it together.”
Viewers of her videos quickly offered advice, encouraging her to reach out to her insurance company and ensure they investigate the cause of the fire before any evidence is lost. Others suggested she consider legal action should it turn out that the router was indeed defective.
In light of their losses, Huntley and her family have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help rebuild their lives, asking for help from friends, the community, and strangers. They have expressed immense gratitude for any support they receive during this tough time. “Our family’s world was turned upside down when we lost our home to a devastating fire,” Huntley explained in her fundraiser. “In a matter of moments, the place where we built memories, shared laughter, and found comfort was reduced to ashes.”
So far, they have raised a little over $3,000 towards their goal of $8,000, showcasing the spirit of community support in the face of adversity.
