Holt McCallany has expressed great enthusiasm for Tom Cruise’s upcoming final installment in the Mission: Impossible series. During the premiere of his new movie, The Amateur, in New York City, McCallany shared his insights regarding the highly anticipated film.
“I haven’t seen Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning yet, but I’ve watched all the previous films, and it’s a fantastic saga,” McCallany, known for his role in Mindhunter, remarked. He praised the franchise and mentioned the significant impact it has had over the years.
The actor had kind words for director Christopher McQuarrie, saying, “He’s a wonderful guy and a tremendous director. It was a privilege to work with someone like Chris, whom we affectionately call ‘McQ’.”
As for Tom Cruise, McCallany didn’t hold back his admiration, stating, “Tom is the biggest movie star in the world for a reason.” He feels privileged to be a part of this significant project, especially since it marks the conclusion of a beloved franchise.
In the upcoming summer blockbuster, McCallany stars as Secretary of Defense Bernstein. The film will see the return of Cruise, who, at 62, will reprise his iconic role as Ethan Hunt.
The Final Reckoning, the eighth film in the Mission: Impossible series, will continue the storyline from Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning and will see Hunt and his team face off against a dangerous rogue artificial intelligence called “The Entity.”
Tom Cruise recently discussed the film, hinting that it would provide a satisfying conclusion to the 30-year journey of the franchise. “I hope it’s the fitting end to a long story,” he said, expressing confidence that audiences will resonate with the title.
Describing the film, Cruise noted that it promises to be “an epic, emotional journey,” comparing its scope to legendary works like The Iliad.
Alongside Cruise and McCallany, the film features familiar faces like Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, and several others, while also introducing new characters played by actors such as Nick Offerman and Bob Odenkirk.
Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning is set for release on May 23, 2025. It aims to leave a lasting legacy in the world of cinema, pleasing both longtime fans and new audiences alike.
