Hilaria Baldwin recently shared her experiences dealing with the challenges posed by paparazzi. During a March 16 episode of her show, The Baldwins, she discussed the best way to handle photographers, revealing that avoiding them is usually the right approach, although she admitted, “I haven’t always disengaged. Have I had problems? Absolutely.”
Reflecting on a particular incident, Hilaria recalled being overwhelmed by paparazzi following the involuntary manslaughter charges against her husband, Alec Baldwin, related to the tragic 2021 shooting on the set of Rust. She described how chaotic the scene was, saying, "I got mobbed in the morning. It was just absolutely insane.”
Hilaria also shared her thoughts on media commentary about her fashion choices during the incident. She explained that her goal was to protect Alec as he tried to get into a car, stating, “I went inside, put on a ridiculous outfit and went back outside.” She noted that the photographers didn’t realize her intention was to distract them.
She then explained her strategy to give Alec a chance to escape: “I put my back to the corner so their back was to the apartment, and then we had a car pull up. Alec goes into the car [and] drives off. Then, I walked right back to the house.” Despite criticisms labeling her as an attention-seeker, Hilaria made it clear she is focused on her family, saying, “I’m gonna take care of my husband and I’m gonna take care of my kids.”
Alec Baldwin echoed similar sentiments about handling paparazzi pressure. At 66 years old, he reflected on his past experiences, saying, “What are you gonna do now? You either punch every tabloid photographer, or you’re going to be exhausted by the end of the day. I just want to take care of my family. I want to be left alone.” He also warned that he wouldn’t hesitate to defend his family if things escalated.
The Baldwins airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on TLC.
