U.S. Launches Operation Southern Spear to Combat Drug Networks
Washington D.C. – In a move to protect American communities, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the start of Operation Southern Spear. This new mission will focus on dismantling dangerous drug and terror groups operating in Latin America.
Hegseth stated that U.S. Southern Command and Joint Task Force Southern Spear will lead this important effort. The goal is to stop the flow of illegal drugs into the United States and keep our country safe.
“This mission defends our Homeland… and secures our Homeland from the drugs that are killing our people,” Hegseth said.
Recently, U.S. forces carried out strikes on boats suspected of carrying drugs, showing the seriousness of this commitment.
The Navy will play a key role in Operation Southern Spear, using advanced technology to track and stop drug smugglers. This includes the use of robotic ships and aircraft.
The U.S. will also deploy warships, including the USS Gerald R. Ford, to help with the mission.
Even some Democrats have expressed support for stronger action against drug trafficking in the region. Senator Mark Warner stated that the current administration should do more to address the problem.
Hegseth emphasized the importance of protecting our region, saying, “The Western Hemisphere is America’s neighborhood – and we will protect it.”
