War Secretary Hegseth Spends Thanksgiving with Troops
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and his wife, Jennifer, shared Thanksgiving with Navy sailors in Latin America. They served meals and thanked the troops for their service, especially those working on Southern Spear, a mission focused on stopping drug and terror groups.
Hegseth, a veteran himself, said he remembers missing his family during his own deployments. He wanted to bring some holiday cheer to the sailors who are away from their loved ones this year.
The War Secretary also spoke about the recent attack on National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C., offering prayers for the injured and their families.
The Hegseths visited the USS Gerald R. Ford and the USS Winston S. Churchill, sharing a Thanksgiving meal with the sailors. Hegseth expressed gratitude from himself, his wife, and the President, thanking the troops for their bravery and dedication. He assured them of the nation’s support for them and their families.
Hegseth concluded his remarks by quoting George Washington’s 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation and offering a prayer for all deployed service members. He thanked them for their service and wished them Godspeed.
