War Secretary Hegseth Encourages Strength and Readiness in New Recruits
Los Angeles, CA – War Secretary Pete Hegseth recently visited the Los Angeles Military Entrance Processing Station (LA MEPS), where he administered the oath of enlistment to 40 new military recruits from across the West Coast. The ceremony was part of Hegseth’s “Arsenal of Freedom Tour,” a journey focused on revitalizing American manufacturing and bolstering the defense industrial base.
Hegseth emphasized the importance of a strong and prepared military, highlighting the values of dedication, service, and physical fitness. He spoke of the responsibility to ensure our troops are always ready and equipped for any challenge they may face.
“I’m honored to be here with you, and I’m grateful to the families, because they clearly raised great Americans,” Hegseth stated to the recruits and their families. “And my promise to you — our charge to you — is that we will make sure we have their back, that they are prepared and they are equipped, and that they are never in a fair fight and that we rebuild our military, restore the warrior ethos and reestablish deterrence.”
The War Secretary’s visit underscores a commitment to rebuilding and maintaining a powerful military force, one that serves as a deterrent to potential adversaries and a protector of American values. He stressed the importance of equipping soldiers with the best possible tools and training, fostering a culture of strength and readiness.
Hegseth also addressed the recruits directly, reminding them of the significance of their decision to serve. He spoke of the honor and responsibility that comes with wearing the uniform and the importance of upholding the values of duty, honor, and country.
“I look at this room, at these young Americans, [and] I see the best of our country. And my job as secretary of war is to serve — to serve your commanders, serve those who train you [and] serve those who prepare you — so that you are prepared, if and when that day comes, and we have your back in the process,” Hegseth said before administering the enlistment oath.
The War Secretary also reinforced the importance of physical fitness within the military, advocating for a culture of strength and discipline. Videos circulating on social media showed Hegseth engaging in physical training alongside the new recruits, demonstrating his commitment to leading by example.
“Good luck and Godspeed for your training. We know you’ll make your parents, your family, your communities, your churches and all those you know proud,” he continued, adding, “You’re about to enter the greatest fighting force that the world has ever seen.”
Hegseth explained to recruits why physical training is important to start the day off right.
“I want to reinforce from the very top that the basics matter. Being prepared, being fit. You’re all going to be young officers setting the example leading from the front,” he advised.
Hegseth’s visit to the LA MEPS serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who choose to serve in the armed forces. It also highlights the importance of strong leadership and a commitment to providing our troops with the resources and support they need to defend our nation and its interests. The emphasis on traditional values, physical fitness, and military strength reflects a desire to maintain America’s position as a global leader and a protector of freedom.
