Government Shutdown Nears Resolution
The Director of the National Economic Council, Kevin Hassett, announced that the ongoing government shutdown is expected to come to an end this week. Speaking on Monday, he highlighted that it would not look good for Democrats to resume government operations just before the recent “No Kings” protests held nationwide over the weekend.
Hassett pointed out that insiders suggest progress is being made and that an agreement to reopen the government could be on the horizon. He mentioned the need for moderate Democrats to step up and engage in constructive discussions.
He noted that this marks the third time Democrats have instigated a shutdown during President Donald Trump’s administration. According to Hassett, if the Democrats want to address their policy disagreements, they should do so through the normal legislative process rather than resorting to shutdowns.
“The moderate Democrats will step forward and help us open the government, allowing for negotiations on any policy matters through regular order,” Hassett stated.
As the week progresses, many are eager to see how lawmakers resolve this situation and work towards a functioning government once again.
