Prince Harry May See Security Detail Restored in UK
Prince Harry might soon have his security restored while in the United Kingdom. A committee is reviewing the policies that led to him being denied full-time, armed protection. This decision could be reversed soon.
Sources indicate that the Home Office is close to confirming security for Prince Harry. This follows his request for the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) to look again at its security rules.
Some royal watchers believe this could mean the royal family is moving toward getting along better.
One expert, Ian Pelham Turner, suggested this change in policy might be influenced by concerns about King Charles’s health. He believes King Charles may want to ensure family unity, especially with Prince William, to support Queen Camilla.
Prince Harry lost his police protection in the UK when he and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from their royal duties in 2020. Since then, he has argued that he needs the protection for his family’s safety and offered to pay for it himself.
After losing a court appeal, Prince Harry wrote to the Home Secretary in December, asking for a full review of his security risks. Following this, RAVEC decided to reassess the threat level for the first time since 2020.
Prince Harry has expressed concerns about bringing his family to Britain, citing safety reasons. He has also spoken about his feelings toward the media, dating back to his mother, Princess Diana’s death.
