Ferrari Shows Strong Performance at Austin Grand Prix
Austin, Texas – The Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Austin saw Ferrari deliver a notable performance, with drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton securing third and fourth place respectively. The results marked a significant improvement for the team, particularly after a less successful showing in Saturday’s sprint race.
Leclerc, who was named “Driver of the Day,” engaged in a tight contest with McLaren’s Lando Norris. While he couldn’t overtake Norris, his third-place finish was a positive outcome for Ferrari. Hamilton also had a good race, moving up to fourth place after overtaking his former Mercedes teammate, George Russell.
Max Verstappen of Red Bull continued his dominant season by winning the race. This victory, combined with his sprint race win, brings him closer to championship leader Oscar Piastri in the standings. Verstappen is now aiming for his fifth world title.
Hamilton shared his thoughts on the race, highlighting the team’s overall success. “It was a good result – an amazing result for the team,” he said. “Third and fourth, good points. It’s great to finish ahead of the Mercedes team, to get those points and even ahead of a McLaren. Definitely a positive.” He acknowledged that despite a difficult start, there were many positives to take away from the weekend. Hamilton expressed his desire to finish even higher in future races, but emphasized that the team is heading in the right direction.
When asked about Ferrari’s strategy of starting Leclerc on soft tires, Hamilton focused on the positive aspects of the team’s approach. “I think it was clearly the quickest strategy in the end,” he noted. He explained that before Leclerc’s pit stop, he was close behind. However, emerging ten seconds behind created a gap that was too difficult to close. Despite this, Hamilton recognized the team’s hard work and progress, especially considering they haven’t introduced car upgrades recently.
The Austin Grand Prix results suggest Ferrari is making strides forward. While Hamilton is still seeking a podium finish, he remains optimistic about the team’s future performance.
