Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Reflects on Life After Parole
Gypsy-Rose Blanchard has recently shared her thoughts on social media as her parole comes to an end. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she apologized for her role in the tragic 2015 death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.
The 33-year-old expressed that this new chapter in her life will focus on healing and reclaiming her identity. “I’ve taken accountability for my actions,” she wrote, emphasizing her commitment to moving forward. Blanchard served eight years of a ten-year sentence and completed her parole on June 24, 2025.
She described her freedom as a chance to find clarity and forgiveness, stating, “The Justice system has decided. The case is closed.” Blanchard also pointed out that justice has been served for both her and her mother.
In her post, she addressed her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, who is currently serving a life sentence for first-degree murder in Dee Dee’s death. Blanchard labeled him as “deeply disturbed” but also stressed that he knew the difference between right and wrong, stating that he made his own choices.
The tragic events unfolded in June 2015 when Godejohn fatally stabbed Dee Dee while Gypsy-Rose was in hiding. Gypsy has shared that she was a victim in her own right, as she had been manipulated into a situation where she felt powerless.
She further discussed Godejohn’s behavior, reflecting on how he targets vulnerable individuals and creates a twisted sense of loyalty in them. Blanchard shared her concern about a new relationship he has developed while in prison, indicating that his harmful patterns continue.
As she concludes her post, Blanchard expresses sorrow for the pain her actions caused Dee Dee’s family and reiterates her commitment to moving forward with her life. She thanked all who have supported her on this journey, acknowledging both her supporters and critics.
