Gypsy Rose Blanchard has shared some thoughtful advice for the Menendez brothers if they are ever released from prison. She recently spoke with TMZ and reflected on her own experience after being released. “One thing I wish I had done was take a break from the media when I first got out of prison. I really needed that time to adjust, but I didn’t, and it was overwhelming,” she explained.
Blanchard knows what it’s like to serve time in prison, having been convicted in connection with the murder of her mother. Similarly, Lyle and Erik Menendez have spent many years behind bars after being found guilty of murdering their parents. They were sentenced to life in prison in 1996 following a second trial.
Both the Menendez brothers and Blanchard have spoken out about the abuse they suffered as children. The brothers claim that their father abused them while their mother did not intervene. In response, they took drastic action in August 1989, leading to their convictions.
Blanchard was released in January 2024, nearly nine years after her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, was killed by her ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn. Dee Dee had subjected Gypsy to years of abuse, pretending she was seriously ill.
Gypsy Rose, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016, wants the Menendez brothers to consider their next steps carefully if they’re released. “If they do get out, they should take some time for themselves, find stability, and then decide if they want to enter the entertainment world,” she advised.
Blanchard’s words emphasize the importance of self-care and reflection, especially after experiencing such significant life changes.
