The search continues for 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard, who has been missing for over a month. A school official in Lompoc, California, reported her missing, but police say she hasn’t been seen for over a year.
Melodee’s grandmother, Lilly Denes, has shared her concerns about Melodee’s mother, Ashlee Buzzard. She says Ashlee cut Melodee off from the world, including her family. Denes also mentioned that social services had previously asked her to care for Melodee while Ashlee was in a mental hospital.
Investigators have learned that Ashlee and Melodee went on a road trip across several states. However, when police went to Ashlee’s home, Melodee was not there.
Denes described Melodee as a happy and smart child. She hopes that someone knows where Melodee is and will come forward with information.
Ashlee Buzzard has reportedly not been cooperating with the police. She was arrested recently on a false imprisonment charge, but it was not related to Melodee’s disappearance.
Melodee is described as being about 4 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 60 pounds, with brown curly hair and brown eyes. The FBI is now involved in the search. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
