A man has been arrested on a murder charge following a violent incident at a golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The police report indicates that Junior Boucher, 36, allegedly killed 65-year-old Brian Hiltebeitel using the victim’s own golf clubs on November 25.
According to the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department, Hiltebeitel was reported missing by his family just an hour before the attack. The police described the assault as a “random act of violence” that occurred around 1:30 PM at the Sandhill Crane Golf Club.
Witnesses reported hearing Hiltebeitel yell, “He’s trying to kill me,” while fleeing from Boucher, who was armed with a golf club. The situation escalated as Boucher allegedly struck Hiltebeitel multiple times in the head with the club and chased him towards a pond on the first hole of the course.
The confrontation continued in the water, where witnesses observed Boucher on top of Hiltebeitel, appearing to choke him. After Hiltebeitel stopped moving, Boucher reportedly hit him several more times before emerging from the pond and removing his clothes.
When authorities arrived, they discovered Boucher running away and apprehended him after a brief pursuit, using an electronic control device to help make the arrest. Police Chief Dominick Pape stated that it seems Boucher had no reason to be at the golf course and that the attack appears to have been entirely unprovoked.
As the investigation continues, officials have noted that there does not appear to be any connection between the suspect and the victim. Boucher is currently being held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail.
