Goldie Hawn recently shared a touching moment from her journey as a mother during a panel discussion in Miami. She recalled a time when her daughter, Kate Hudson, asked a profound question at just six years old: “Mommy, is God my cousin?” Hawn admitted she was taken aback and wasn’t sure how to respond.
While addressing the audience at The Wellness Oasis event, Hawn explained her answer. She told Kate that God could indeed feel like a cousin, as God is present everywhere. Hawn continued, likening the feeling of joy just before a hearty laugh to how one might imagine God, describing it as a burst of happiness within.
Hawn, now 79, reflects fondly on raising Kate, who is now 45, and her son, Oliver Hudson. With her partner, Kurt Russell, she also welcomed another son, Wyatt Russell.
Beyond her experiences as a mother, Hawn is now a grandmother to eight grandchildren. In a recent podcast, she described the significant change from being a mother to embracing the role of a grandmother. Despite having to navigate the new family dynamics, Hawn emphasized the importance of granting her children autonomy in their parenting choices.
While she enjoys being a grandmother, Hawn admits she misses her days as a mother. However, she remains grateful for the special role she played in her children’s lives and takes joy in being a source of happiness and support for her grandchildren.
