Melissa Gilbert, wife of actor Timothy Busfield, has turned to social media to express her feelings after her husband was recently charged with child sex abuse. Busfield, known for his roles in television, surrendered to authorities in New Mexico on January 13th.
Gilbert, famous for her role in “Little House on the Prairie,” shared a message with her followers, expressing “love and gratitude” during this difficult time. She acknowledged the challenges facing her family and many others.
Busfield’s legal team is pointing fingers at the “stage parents”, suggesting they may have a history of fraud, as a part of his defense.
Gilbert asked for understanding and support, saying it’s important to “slow down, prioritize what truly matters, and allow ourselves moments of rest.” She thanked her fans for their continued support for both her and her husband.
Busfield faces serious charges, including two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse. The investigation began in late 2024 following a report from a local hospital. If convicted, he could face a lengthy prison sentence. Busfield has maintained his innocence.
Gilbert was seen in court when Busfield’s was released awaiting trial.
