Netflix is making a new season of “Monster” about Ed Gein, a man who did terrible things in Wisconsin in the 1950s.
Ed Gein’s story is very scary. He did things that made people think of horror movies like “Psycho” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”
After he was caught, Ed Gein spent the rest of his life in a mental hospital.
So, what happened to Ed Gein? How did he die, and where is he buried?
Ed Gein got into trouble in 1957. People found out that he had killed people and also dug up bodies from graves.
He used the bodies to make things like masks and clothes. Some people said that he made a suit out of women’s skin because he had a strange relationship with his mother.
He killed a store owner named Bernice Worden in 1957. Police also found the head of another woman, Mary Hogan, in his house.
When the police searched his house, they found body parts everywhere. It was a very scary scene.
The newspapers called him “The Butcher of Plainfield.” He admitted to killing Worden and Hogan, but he was only found guilty of killing Worden.
Ed Gein was sick with schizophrenia. He was sent to a mental hospital because he wasn’t fit to stand trial.
He stayed in a mental hospital in Wisconsin for the rest of his life.
He said he wasn’t guilty because he was insane. He was later found to be able to understand what he did, and he was convicted of killing Worden in 1968. He stayed in the mental hospital after that.
He died in 1984 at the age of 77. He had cancer that caused him to have trouble breathing.
Ed Gein was buried in a cemetery next to his mother and brother.
But people didn’t forget about him, even after he died. People started taking pieces of his gravestone as souvenirs. The gravestone was damaged so badly that it was hard to take care of.
In 2000, someone stole Ed Gein’s gravestone. The police thought it might show up for sale online.
The police also thought that the theft might have something to do with strange or evil activities.
Ed Gein’s gravestone was never found. Now, there’s just a patch of grass between his mother and brother’s graves where he is buried.
Ed Gein’s story has been used in many books, movies, and TV shows.
The movie “Psycho” was based on Ed Gein’s crimes. “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “The Silence of the Lambs” also took ideas from his story.
Now, Netflix is making a new season of “Monster” about Ed Gein.
