Following what officials are calling repeated violations of a fragile peace agreement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to conduct immediate and forceful strikes on Gaza.
The directive came after a high-level security meeting, which included top defense officials. Discussions centered around Israel’s response to the escalating situation, with a focus on protecting Israeli citizens and upholding the integrity of the ceasefire agreement.

The IDF has not released specific details regarding targets, but Israeli media reports suggest preparations are underway for coordinated air and artillery strikes against Hamas infrastructure in southern and central Gaza. Local sources in Gaza have reported Israeli aircraft activity and explosions near Khan Younis and Rafah. The IDF has stated it is “prepared for any scenario.” A senior Israeli security source indicated that the response is intended to be “extensive and decisive, but not a return to full-scale war, unless Hamas forces that decision.”
