The mother of Phoenix Ikner, who is accused of being involved in the recent shooting at Florida State University, has spoken out about her son’s situation. Anne-Mari Eriksen shared her concerns about Phoenix, 20, before the tragic event that occurred on April 17, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to six others.
In an interview with WPLG-TV, Eriksen expressed her worries but admitted that she never expected this kind of incident from her son. She mentioned feeling “alienated” from him after facing a custody dispute with his father, Christopher Ikner.
Eriksen, who is both an American and Norwegian citizen, had a past incident in 2015 when she was arrested at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. She reportedly took Phoenix to Europe without his father’s permission, violating their custody agreement.
While in Norway, Phoenix, who was then known as Christian Gunnar Eriksen, missed important school tests and medical appointments, as well as his medication for a growth hormone disorder and ADHD.
When she returned to the United States, Eriksen faced legal consequences for her actions and was sentenced after pleading no contest to the charge of taking a minor out of the state. It’s unclear what the relationship is like between her and Phoenix after this incident.
Phoenix Ikner was named as a suspect in the FSU shooting. Following the event, he was shot by police and taken to a hospital. The victims of the shooting have been identified as Robert Morales, a dining coordinator at FSU, and Tiru Chabba, a regional vice president with Aramark Collegiate Hospitality.
Reportedly, Phoenix’s stepmother is Jessica Ikner, a deputy of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. It is believed that he used her gun during the incident, as stated by Sheriff Walter McNeil during a press briefing shortly after the shooting.
