A Florida State linebacker, Ethan Pritchard, is currently in critical but stable condition after being shot while visiting family. The university announced the news on Monday.
Pritchard, a freshman from Sanford, measures 6-foot-2 and weighs 224 pounds. He was shot on Sunday evening while sitting in a vehicle outside an apartment complex in Havana, as reported by local law enforcement.
In a statement, Florida State University said, “The Pritchard family is grateful for the support from so many, as well as the care provided by first responders and medical staff. They ask for privacy during this difficult time.” Further updates on his condition are expected as they become available.
Ethan did not participate in Florida State’s recent season opener, where they achieved a 31-17 win over No. 8 Alabama.
FSU head coach Mike Norvell expressed his concern, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Ethan and his family. This is an extremely tragic situation for such a young man. I had the chance to be with him last night along with his family. We are thankful for the medical assistance he received. Our team, coaches, and families are all here to support him.”
Norvell added that the community’s support has been deeply appreciated during this challenging time.
