Ford Issues Recall for Over 850,000 Vehicles Due to Fuel Pump Issues
In a recent announcement, Ford is recalling more than 850,000 vehicles in the United States due to concerns about potential fuel pump failures that could lead to engine stalls while driving, increasing the risk of accidents. This recall affects a variety of Ford and Lincoln models made in recent years, including popular vehicles like the Ford Bronco, Explorer, and F-150, as well as Lincoln Aviators and Navigators.
Starting Monday, Ford will begin sending out notification letters to the owners of affected vehicles, alerting them to the possible safety hazards. However, the company mentioned that a solution is still being developed, and there’s no specific timeline for when fixes will be available. Once a solution is ready, affected owners will receive further instructions on how to proceed, and there will be no cost for the repairs.
Ford has indicated they are not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue. Nonetheless, drivers should remain vigilant for any signs of trouble, like a check engine light or reduced engine power, which could signal impending fuel pump failure.
The recall report highlights that fuel pump failures are more likely to happen in warm weather or when fuel levels are low. Internal issues, such as contamination, can affect the fuel system’s performance, and the company has identified some supplier changes that could have contributed to the problem.
Ford estimates that around 10% of the recalled vehicles may be at risk for this fuel pump issue, covering a variety of models from the 2021 to 2023 model years, including specific Ford Broncos, Explorers, F-250s, F-350s, and other select Lincoln vehicles.
As consumers, it’s essential to stay informed about these developments and to take proactive steps to ensure that your vehicle remains safe and reliable on the road.
