A Florida woman, Katrina Carrillo, 25, is facing serious child abuse charges after her boyfriend’s 9-year-old son wrote a distressing note that led to a police investigation.
On March 4, the boy allegedly wrote “please help us” on a pink sticky note, sparking concern that prompted the Florida Department of Children and Families to get involved.
By April 9, during a forensic interview, the child reported that Carrillo had pinned him to the ground and hit him. He also mentioned that he struggled to breathe when she covered his face with a pink blanket and pillow.
Carrillo spoke to police on April 23, denying the allegations against her. Following this, she was arrested and charged with felony child abuse. She was later released on $5,000 bail the same day.
In court on April 24, Carrillo was ordered to maintain a distance from her boyfriend’s children. Authorities are urging anyone with further information regarding the case to reach out to Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers.
