Authorities in Louisiana have taken a flight attendant into custody following an alarming altercation that left a co-worker injured. The incident unfolded at a hotel in New Orleans early Monday morning, November 25, when police apprehended 36-year-old Joshua Smith.
According to local law enforcement, the chaos began after Smith had been out with his colleagues. They observed that he was behaving unusually on their return to the hotel. In an attempt to help, a fellow flight attendant, whose identity has not been released, tried to guide him to his room. However, during their conversation, a dispute broke out, leading to Smith allegedly slashing her arm and neck.
As she attempted to flee the scene, Smith reportedly pursued her. A security guard intervened in an effort to help, but unfortunately, he was also hurt when Smith cut his thumb.
Smith, an employee of Delta Airlines, is now facing serious charges including attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and simple battery. His attorney claimed that Smith “blacked out” after drinking and did not intend to cause harm.
Delta Airlines responded to the situation by stating their strong stance against violence in the workplace and assured that they would fully cooperate with the authorities.
At this time, it remains unclear whether Smith has entered any pleas regarding the charges against him.
