A 51-year-old man from Florida, named John Connaughton, is facing serious charges after he allegedly threw bottles filled with urine into a local business. According to court documents, Connaughton is charged with felony battery, criminal mischief, and two counts of aggravated assault.
The incident took place at a business called Doors, Moulding and More in St. Petersburg. Reports indicate that Connaughton hurled several bottles of urine at the front door, causing damages exceeding $1,000 to the building materials inside.
Following the incident, two men attempted to chase Connaughton down. However, when they caught up to him, Connaughton allegedly threatened them by raising his skateboard as though he would strike them. Witnesses to the event confirmed that they saw him make these threats.
Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department quickly apprehended Connaughton and took him into custody. He is currently held at the Pinellas County Jail on a bond totaling $22,500, which includes separate amounts for each charge he faces.
Connaughton is being represented by a public defender, though they have not commented on the case. Additionally, it has been noted that he is a registered sex offender in Florida.
As of now, Connaughton has not entered a plea for the charges against him, and no date has been set for his next court hearing.
