A mom in Florida is in trouble after police say she shot her son on Christmas Day.
Roseita Smith, who is 50 years old, was arrested on December 25th. She’s accused of seriously hurting her son.
Police went to a restaurant called Red Rooster after getting a call about a shooting. They found Smith’s son on the ground with a leg wound.
He was rushed to the hospital. He told police that he and his mom were eating at the restaurant when she got angry. She thought he wasn’t showing her enough respect.
The police report says that they left the restaurant and kept arguing in the car.
The son said that his mom pulled out a gun. He got out of the car because of this.
The report says that Smith shot him in the leg after he got out. Then, she drove away.
Later, officers found Smith.
Smith told police that her son threatened her in the car and wouldn’t leave. She said she got out to find help, but he followed her and kept threatening her.
She claims she was protecting herself because she was afraid of him.
Smith said she wasn’t guilty in court on December 26th. There will be another court hearing soon.
