Italian Driver Sets New Speed Record on Navy Ship
CIVITAVECCHIA, Italy – Italian driver Fabio Barone successfully raced a car across the deck of a navy ship, achieving a new world record for the fastest car on a boat. The event took place along Italy’s Mediterranean coast.
Barone drove a red-and-black Ferrari SF90. He reached a speed of 164 kilometers per hour (101 mph) on the flight deck of the Italian Navy aircraft carrier Nave Trieste, docked at the port of Civitavecchia.
The previous record was set by Barone himself on another aircraft carrier. This time, the challenge included stopping the car before it reached the end of the deck.
Race engineer Alessandro Tedino mentioned the initial concerns about the wet deck, which could have made the attempt dangerous. However, the crew worked to dry the surface, ensuring a safer run.
The event was attended by journalists, naval officers, and special guests. A group of children were also present.
After the successful run, the official timekeeper confirmed the new record, and Barone celebrated with his team. The achievement will be submitted to Guinness World Records for official recognition. This display of skill and precision highlights the kind of daring achievements that can inspire national pride.
