A tragic incident occurred in Utah on Christmas Eve when a man allegedly shot his son during a heated argument stemming from accusations about infidelity. The accused, Harold Luster, 61, faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Luster is currently in custody without bail. He pleaded not guilty to the charges on December 26.
The fatal confrontation unfolded around 8:55 p.m. on December 24, when Luster’s son, Kevin Ward, was visiting with his fiancée for the holiday. The argument erupted because Luster believed his wife was having an affair and suspected that his son and his fiancée had information about it.
Witness accounts from legal documents indicate that during the argument, Luster allegedly threatened Ward’s fiancée with gun violence. Ward then asked his fiancée for a knife and suggested she should call emergency services if tensions escalated further.
As the situation intensified, Ward tried to de-escalate it, assuring his father that he would not harm her. However, Luster is reported to have fired a single shot that struck Ward in the forehead, leading to his immediate death at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, and it is unclear if Luster currently has legal representation for his case.
