A sad story is unfolding in Greenville, North Carolina, where an elderly couple has died. Rayfield Ruffin, 73, and his wife Frances Ruffin, 67, were found dead in their home.
Police say they were called to the house because someone reported an assault. When they arrived, they found the couple had passed away.
The couple’s grandson, Martinez Corvell Ruffin, who is 34 years old, has been arrested. He is suspected of being involved in their deaths.
This same house was also the site of another tragedy last year. In October 2024, the couple’s great-grandson, 5-year-old Karter River Rosenboro, was accidentally shot and killed by his 6-year-old brother.
After Karter’s death, people remembered him as a happy child who was loved by many.
It’s not clear how Martinez is related to Karter.
After the accidental shooting last year, Rayfield Ruffin was charged with not storing a firearm safely. He was later released on bond.
Martinez is now facing serious charges, including two counts of murder. He is currently being held in jail without bail. It’s unknown if he has a lawyer yet.
