A family from Maryland is mourning the loss of their 23-year-old son, Dinari Mcalmont, who was found dead while they were on vacation in the Bahamas. The tragic discovery occurred on Saturday, April 5, on the shore of Paradise Island, just hours after the family arrived in the Bahamas.
Dinari’s mother, Michelle McAlmont, shared her heartbreak, alleging that her son had been beaten before his death. She described his condition, stating, “My son was traumatized. His face is damaged, and he had froth around his mouth.” She added that Dinari, who took great pride in his appearance, had sand in his hair, which she found disturbing.
The family had traveled to the Bahamas for a weekend getaway, planning to return home on Monday, April 7. However, they are still in the Bahamas as local authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding Dinari’s death.
According to reports, Dinari had left his parents during dinner to explore the Atlantis resort where they were staying. Hours later, staff members approached his parents to inquire about his whereabouts, which raised their concerns. When they noticed that Dinari’s location sharing service had stopped working, they began searching the resort. They filed a missing person’s report after failing to locate him.
Late that night, around 1 a.m., the family received a call from the police concerning an incident involving Dinari. Shortly after, resort staff informed them that he had died.
A spokesperson for the Atlantis Paradise Island resort expressed condolences to Dinari’s family, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our guests. Our thoughts and condolences are with the guest’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
The Royal Bahamas Police Force is conducting an investigation and is awaiting the results of an autopsy to provide more details. Officials have not classified Dinari’s case as a murder at this time.
