A legal agreement has been reached to better protect the identities of women involved in the Jeffrey Epstein case. This comes after a large release of documents by the Justice Department raised concerns about privacy.
Lawyers representing the women expressed worry that names and personal information were not properly removed from the documents. They said this put the women at risk. One lawyer described the situation as “life-threatening,” while another reported death threats and compromised financial security for their client.
The Justice Department has acknowledged that mistakes were made due to “technical or human error.” They say they have taken steps to fix the problem, including removing materials that could identify the women.
A judge has called off a planned hearing, saying he is pleased the parties were able to find a solution. The focus now is on ensuring that victims are protected from further harm as the case continues to unfold.
