New photos from the Jeffrey Epstein files have been made public by the Department of Justice (DOJ). The pictures appear to show Epstein, who was previously charged with sex trafficking, with what looks like a young child.
The DOJ released these files, including the two photos, on Friday, December 19th. In the images, Epstein is seen relaxing without a shirt.
In one photo, Epstein is smiling and posing on a couch. In the corner, a small leg with a black shoe can be seen sticking out from behind a pile of items.
These photos were released because of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which President Donald Trump signed into law in November. The act requires the DOJ to make all files related to Epstein’s sex trafficking investigation available to the public.
The Oversight Committee has been releasing photos from Epstein’s files since early December and plans to continue releasing more images as they go through nearly 100,000 documents.
The released files also include photos of Epstein with well-known people like Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, and Michael Jackson. These celebrities haven’t been accused of any crimes.
Angel Ureña, Bill Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, addressed the photos by saying that this isn’t about Bill Clinton. Bill Gates also said he regretted spending any time with Epstein.
The DOJ plans to release more files and photos related to Epstein in the future. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said the agency needs more time to remove sensitive information from the documents before releasing them.
Chuck Schumer criticized the release, saying that simply releasing documents with information blacked out doesn’t meet the goal of transparency.
