A Maryland man is in jail after his girlfriend was killed in her home. This happened just days after they got engaged.
Shelaya Broadwater, 44, was found dead in her bathroom in Ellicott City, Maryland. Police say she had been stabbed.
Rondale Dickerson, 34, is accused of killing her. He’s been arrested and charged with murder.
Reports say that Broadwater’s child found her. The child called 911 and said there was blood everywhere.
The child also told police that Dickerson had been at the house earlier that day. He was reportedly upset with Broadwater and tried to get into the house.
Police found Dickerson later at a nearby store. He was shirtless and had cuts on him.
The police believe that Broadwater was killed in a planned attack.
Friends and family say that Broadwater was a kind and loving person. Her cousin said she was a “beautiful soul” and that it was unfair for her to die in such a violent way.
Dickerson first said he didn’t do it, but later admitted to killing Broadwater, according to police.
He’s now charged with murder and other crimes. He’s being held in jail with no bail. His next court date is in October.
