A former middle school teacher in Missouri is going to prison. Carissa Smith, who used to teach at Dixon Middle School, was sentenced to 10 years behind bars.
Smith, who is 30 years old, admitted in court that she had done wrong. She pleaded guilty to having inappropriate contact with a student and putting a child in danger.
The police say that Smith gave students money, alcohol, and marijuana in exchange for sex. The students also told the police that Smith tried to scare them so they wouldn’t tell anyone what was happening.
She will serve six years for endangering a child and two years for each count of inappropriate contact.
