Actress Sigourney Weaver, famous for her role as Ellen Ripley in the iconic Alien series, has shared her excitement about the new show Alien: Earth. During a recent event at the Toronto International Film Festival, she expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I’m really enjoying it.”
Weaver appreciates the show’s depth, noting that “the scope is so much more profound than just an Alien movie.” She highlighted that the story reaches into the future, discussing themes that could affect our world in 100 years. This new series takes a unique angle on the beloved franchise created by Ridley Scott.
She specifically praised the series creator, Noah Hawley, for introducing fresh concepts, including hybrid characters that are a blend of humans and synthetic beings. These new creatures add an intriguing twist to the storyline.
In a discussion about the show’s frightening elements, Weaver remarked, “And the monsters that he’s also bringing in are just terrifying.” Her excitement reflects a genuine appreciation for the creativity involved, as she declared, “I can’t believe I’m watching TV.”
The series, set in the year 2120—two years before the original Alien—follows a deep-space research vessel that crashes on Earth, unleashing unfamiliar and dangerous life forms, including the notorious Xenomorph.
Alien: Earth, which airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on FX and Hulu, promises a thrilling adventure that builds on the legacy of the Alien franchise while tackling new and thought-provoking themes.
