Phil Robertson, known for his role on the hit reality show Duck Dynasty, has sadly passed away at the age of 79. His family announced the news on social media this past Sunday, May 25. This comes several months after they revealed he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in December.
In a heartfelt message, Phil’s son, Jase Robertson, confirmed his father’s passing, saying, "My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands." Phil’s granddaughter, Sadie Robertson Huff, also shared touching photos celebrating their time together.
Willie Robertson, another of Phil’s sons, along with his wife Korie, expressed their gratitude for the love and prayers from supporters. They stated, "We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord." They plan to hold a private memorial and will share details about a public celebration of his life soon.
Phil’s struggle with Alzheimer’s was first disclosed on December 6 during an episode of the Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast. His condition had worsened over time, leaving him in need of comfort and care.
The Duck Dynasty series, which aired on A&E, showcased the lives of the Robertson family, focusing on their business, Duck Commander. The show ran for 11 seasons before ending in 2017, but excitingly, it’s set to return this summer with a revival titled Duck Dynasty: The Revival.
Phil, the founder of Duck Commander, launched his hunting business in 1972, inventing a now-patented duck call. He and his wife, Kay, have a rich family legacy, having raised their children with strong values rooted in faith.
As the Robertson family navigates this difficult time, their devotion to each other and their faith shines through, reminding fans of Phil’s enduring spirit and impact.
