FBI Steps Up Fight Against Dangerous Drones
The FBI is working harder than ever to stop criminals, terrorists, and unfriendly countries from using drones in harmful ways.
Kash Patel, the FBI Director, announced that the agency is putting more time and money into improving its ability to deal with these unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
Former President Donald Trump signed an order that led to a new National Counter-UAS Training Center, run by the FBI in Huntsville, Alabama. This center will teach law enforcement how to find, track, and stop illegal drone activity safely and legally.
According to Patel, this training center will be very important for keeping big events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics safe.
Dan Bongino, the FBI Deputy Director, said that the threat from drones is happening now, and the government is taking action to handle it.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) also said they would ban new drones made in other countries because of concerns about national security. They are especially worried about drones and their parts made in China, which they see as a risk to America.
