A postal worker in Florida is in trouble after being accused of trying to hit a 10-year-old boy with his mail truck.
William White, who is 41 years old, is facing charges that include assault with a deadly weapon and theft.
The police say it all started when White delivered a package to the wrong house. The young boy who lived there noticed the mistake and decided to take the package to the correct address on his scooter.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, White thought the boy was stealing the package. They say White then drove his truck at the boy, hitting his scooter. Luckily, the boy was able to get out of the way before he was hurt.
Police say White then picked up the scooter, put it in his truck, and drove off. A relative of the boy followed White, and White ended up throwing the scooter into someone else’s yard.
White was arrested after police investigated. The Postal Service is also looking into the matter.
The Postal Service stated that they take the safety of their customers and employees very seriously and are working with the police on the investigation. They also confirmed that White has been working for them since 2025.
White was released from jail after posting a $5,500 bond.
