Dolly Parton recently expressed her gratitude to fans for their support during a challenging time in her life. The beloved country music star lost her husband, Carl Dean, who passed away at the age of 82 on Monday.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Parton shared, “This is a love note to family, friends, and fans. Thank you for all the messages, cards, and flowers that you’ve sent to pay your respects for the loss of my beloved husband Carl.” She continued to say, “I can’t reach out personally to each of you but just know it has meant the world to me. He is in God’s arms now and I am okay with that. I will always love you.”
Dean’s passing took place in Nashville, Tennessee, and details regarding the cause of his death have not been made public. Parton mentioned that they celebrated over 60 years of marriage, emphasizing the deep bond they shared. She thanked everyone for their prayers and support.
The couple met when Parton was just 18 and Dean was 21. They married in 1966 but often kept their relationship private, though Dean played a crucial role in Parton’s life. He inspired her to write some of her biggest hits, including the classic song “Jolene,” which tells the story of a woman pleading with another not to take her man away.
Parton shared fond memories of their life together, saying, “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years.” She also confirmed that a private ceremony would be held for Dean attended by their immediate family members.
Dolly Parton continues to be admired not only for her music but also for her enduring marriage and the love she and Carl shared throughout their lives.
